These students don't need a lesson in being generous.

Seniors at Profile Junior-Senior High School, in Bethlehem, Pa., elected to give money they raised for their class trip to their principal, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

All told, the students will hand over nearly $8,000 to Courtney Vashaw.

The class had been scheduled to use the money for a four-day trip to a ranch in New York.

When the seniors told Vashaw about their plan, she broke down in tears and told them, "It is very hard for me to accept help, and I have no idea what to say to you."

Senior class president Christopher Sirois said it was the right thing to do:

Every one of us has a connection with her, and she has given so much to us that we just wanted to give back."

Vashaw is blown away by their generosity, saying, "“They are (a) pretty remarkable, fun, astonishing group of people."

The seniors  may have given up their dream trip, but they will still go on a different excursion closer to home and plan to continue to raise money for Vashaw.
