The phrase "leapin' lizards,"  from Little Orphan Annie is used by some to describe something unexpected or exciting. In this case, both the exclamation and the literal use of the words are the same.

The newscaster is learning about a Texas rat snake when the lizard suddenly decides it wants to join in. While it's unclear what caused the lizard to make the leap, the handler simply says "he likes you!"  Maybe a little too much, I think.
