Man Who Shot Denver Couple Over Dog Poop Charged with Murder
The man who shot a Denver couple over dog poop was charged with murder and 17 other charges. The girlfriend, unfortunately, died at the scene and the boyfriend required surgery.
Last Wednesday, June 10, a Denver couple was shot because a man in a nearby apartment got angry about their dog pooping near his apartment. 36-year-old Michael Close starting yelling about their dog and then pointed his gun at them and starting shooting from his ground floor apartment. He shot and killed 21-year-old Isabella Thallas and injured her boyfriend, 26-year-old Darian Simon.
Darian Simon was shot twice and required surgery to fix his femur and his family anticipates that he will need more surgery, according to KOAA. Michael Close was arrested the same day outside of Denver, near Conifer.
According to KOAA, detectives found a pistol-grip rifle, handgun, gun belt, and magazines inside of Michael Close's car. Now the 36-year-old has been charged with the following charges, according to KOAA:
- One count of first-degree murder after deliberation
- One count of first-degree murder - extreme indifference
- One count of first-degree murder after deliberation
- One count of attempted first-degree murder - extreme indifference
- One count of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon
- One count of first-degree assault - extreme indifference
- Six felony counts of possession of a large-capacity magazine during a crime
- Three misdemeanor counts of possession of a prohibited large-capacity magazine
- Two misdemeanor counts of prohibited use of a weapon
- One count of disorderly conduct for possession a firearm
- Four possible sentences enhancers related to the commission of a violent crime and use of a weapon
