Shocker: Popular Broncos Player Released After 8 Years
The only constant in life is that things will always change, regardless of how much you want them to stay the same. Change has been constant with our Denver Broncos, and the team made another shocking change today with one of the team's most popular players.
Denver Broncos Cut Captain After 8 Seasons
The sad reality when it comes to our Denver Broncos is that we're just a bad football team. My son is 7, he was born in 2016, which was the last year that Denver won Super Bowl 50. Sadly, in his entire life, my son has never known the Broncos as a winner.
2016 was the last time we were relevant in the NFL as we have fallen and continued to fall season after season. We've not had a winning season since we won the Super Bowl which is an insane statistic on its own.
After releasing Russell Wilson this week, we've had a dozen, yes, 12 different QBs since Peyton Manning retired after Super Bowl 50. Remember some of these names?
The bottom line is, we're struggling, and with the move today, it looks like the Denver Broncos are prepared to completely burn this thing down and start over. That process became clear with the release of one of Broncos Country's favorite players...
Denver Broncos Release Veteran Captain, Safety Justin Simmons
In a surprise to just about every Broncos fan, the Denver Broncos announced that they would be releasing star Safety, Justin Simmons, after 8 years with the team.
The Broncos' statement regarding the release said:
Justin Simmons' impact as a Denver Bronco extends far beyond his exceptional play during eight seasons with our organization. In addition to growing into an All-Pro and team captain, Justin became our perennial Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year devoted to uplifting others and using his influence for positive change. Whether it was in Denver or his hometown of Stuart, Florida, Justin inspired and mentored countless youth while providing unwavering support to the community. The hundreds of hours he spent at the Denver Broncos Boys & Girls Club will be as much a part of Justin's legacy with the Broncos as his leadership, dependability, and many interceptions. Justin will always be a Bronco, and we thank him for the outstanding manner in which he represented our organization on and off the field. We wish Justin, his wife Taryn, and their children Laney, Shae, and Kyler the very best in the future.
If you're unfamiliar with just why Justin was such a special player, the Broncos posted this amazing tribute to the two-time pro bowler.
Change never stops, but we're hopeful these changes are the start of the climb back to the top of the NFL Mountain. Thank you, Justin, you will be missed greatly by Broncos Country. Go Broncos.
