Giant Eggs Are Being Sold By a Colorado Sanctuary

I am pretty adventurous when it comes to trying new foods. Going into a restaurant with an appetite and an open mind is a great way to find a new food you never thought you would love.

The only thing I tend to shy away from is organs. It's not that I think they are gross, for some reason, I think the texture is off-putting. Brains for dinner, yeah. I think I am good with a glass of water. From frog legs, to yak, and one of my all-time favorites, squid. I will give anything a try at least once.

One working rescue sanctuary in Colorado is selling what some could consider a delicacy. Emu eggs. It might surprise you to find out that these gigantic green eggs have a similar taste to chicken eggs, except bigger.

How Big Are Emu Eggs?

One emu egg is nearly the equivalent of 8 to 15 chicken eggs, making them perfect for feeding breakfast to your entire family. The shells are also very captivating, as they are a nice shade of dark green.

The Colorado Gator Farm in Mosca posted a photo on Facebook a few days ago saying that emu eggs are abundant, and they are looking to get rid of them for $20 each. These prehistoric-looking eggs are about the size of your hand, and you will need to travel to the Colorado Gator Farm to pick one up, as they do not offer shipping.

The Colorado Gator Farm also said that they are not sure if the eggs are fertile or not, but for $20, you could try your hand at incubating an egg. Who knows? You might end up with a pet emu if one of them are in fact, fertile. See the post from Facebook below:
