Fort Collins Restaurants I Miss More Than My Deceased Grandma
I've lived in Northern Colorado my entire life, so I've seen lots of resturaunts come and go. Here are some locations in Northern Colorado I miss so dang much.
The Armadillo in Fort Collins
This place was gold. Founded in 1970 in La Salle, Colorado, by an angel, Joe Lucio, this gift of a restaurant was so popular that it expanded from Fort Collins to Greeley, Longmont, Denver, and La Salle.
The Armadillo had the best sopapillas in the world. That might be a little much, but dang, those were good.
Fort Ram
It was a biker bar/family fun restaurant, and if that doesn't blow your mind, I don't know what will. Here are just some of the highlights from my childhood favorite.
- A big dance floor
- An arcade with the coolest classic games
- Pool tables
- Karaoke
- Live bands
Fort Ram kept kids out of the 21+ area with a chain-link fence. Brilliant.
Pizza Pipeline
Like most poor high school students, I was always pinching pennies. Pizza Pipeline did something so smart it's crazy other resturaunts didn't copy them. You could get a slice of pizza for a single dollar. Not one dollar plus tax. Just one single doll hair.
Sometimes that's all I had. It's crazy to think there was a time you could eat every day of the week for only seven dollars. That's a cup of coffee now.
Sadly, I was too young to try the margaritas at Amigos, but I remember they were cheap and my mom always left happy.
Oh, how I miss the 90's.
