If you've been thinking about a tropical vacation in the next few months, make sure Hawaii is not on your list of places to go as the state has decided to delay reopening their islands to tourists until at least October according to The Denver Channel.

Currently, Hawaii has a strict 14-day quarantine policy for anyone who is coming to the islands whether it is a tourist or someone returning home to the islands. With this currently in place is has stopped most tourism as most people cannot afford to quarantine for two weeks prior to beginning their vacation. And during this quarantine period, that person must stay at home or a hotel, not use a vacation rental property. That person also is not allowed to visit other islands and cannot rent a car during that 14-day period.

This quarantine period began back in March and was expected to be lifted on September 1st if visitors could present a negative test for COVID-19. But it was announced by Hawaii's Governor David Ige that this quarantine period will stay in place until at least the last day of September.

So far Hawaii has reported 5,439 COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths due to the disease. It wouldn't be shocking to see this quarantine period pushed back again but it will all be decided by how numbers look as we get closer to the new restriction deadline which is now set for October 1st. If you were planning a trip to Hawaii it might be time to look at another destination.
