Grand Junction’s $1 September Drink Special Loaded With Foo-Foo

Say adios to summer and the 100-degree heat with Grand Junction's $1 drink special. For the month of September, enjoy a Dollaradios.

Each month the Applebee's Grill and Bars in Western Colorado run a low-cost drink special. Most months offer the drink for $1. Some months the drinks a bit fancier and the cost is $2. For September 2019 you can enjoy the $1 Dollaradios, AKA the Blue Long Island Iced Tea.

With the exception of 1994 to 1997, I've never been much of a drinker. Even when I do partake, it's usually something pretty simple. The featured drink for the month, the Dollaradios, seems a bit fussy for my tastes.

What's in one of these things? According to Applebee's Facebook page, they include:

• vodka
• rum
• tequila
• gin
• blue curacao
• sweet & sour
• Sierra Mist

Does anyone remember beer? Preferably cheap, domestic, light beer? In any event, this featured drink looks interesting. The video below demonstrates the process of making a Blue Long Island Iced Tea. Please note, this video does not reflect the exact ingredients or portions used by Applebee's.

Hmmm, I think I'll have to pass. There's no doubt, though, several of my friends are going to go crazy over this one. It certainly looks interesting. In my case, it's just a bit too busy.

The name, Dollaradios, may be appropriate. It seems we may be getting a break from the heat in Western Colorado. The National Weather Service reports temperatures will drop into the 80's by Saturday (September 7) with a 40% chance of rain.

Take advantage of this great deal for the month of September. It sounds like the perfect cocktail for any social occasion.
