Grand Junction is showing their appreciation for teachers on National Teacher Appreciation Day. Grand Junction tells us which teachers they appreciate and why.

Today is National Teacher Appreciation Day and we wanted to do something to show teachers just how much they are appreciated. Teachers, students, and parents have all had to adjust to remote learning amid the coronavirus pandemic. We asked you to tell us which District 51 teacher you appreciate and why on our Facebook and we loved your responses.

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, these are a few teachers that Grand Junction truly appreciates and why:

Rocky Mountain Elementary

Sharon Smith commented on our Facebook and says she really appreciates Mrs. Ball and Mr. Hagerman at Rocky Mountain Elementary School. She says they've made homeschooling seems as normal as possible and they do live meetings just to chat and answer questions.

Taylor Elementary School

Amariah Underwood tagged Suzie Nelson at Taylor Elementary School. She says she really appreciates Ms. Nelson because she was her elementary music teacher and is very uplifting. Amariah tell us that she fun to be around, takes her teaching very seriously and she loves her students.

Bookcliff Elementary School

Three teachers from Bookcliff Elementary School are very much appreciated. Terre Fry on our Facebook says they always go above and beyond for her 6th grader, before the crisis, and even further since remote learning started. Terry says much respect, admiration, and thankfulness to Mrs. Bourne, Mrs. Campbell, and Mrs. Grinstead.

Clifton Elementary School

Amy Powell commented on our Facebook and says Ms. Burnell at Clifton Elementary School has been amazing. Ms. Burnell checks in, is very engaging, and does daily meeting and reading with the kids. Amy says she loves her daughter's 4th-grade teacher.

To all of the District 51 teachers, and teachers across Colorado and the United States, thank you for your dedication and optimism during this crazy time. Your efforts, attitude, and enthusiasm are not unnoticed, we appreciate you and thank you for taking care of the kids, no matter the circumstances.
