The good news for Grand Junction today is that its Target store at Mesa Mall is not being targeted for closing.

According to Huffington Post, Target is closing 13 of it's stores in the U.S. but the Grand Junction store is not on the list.

In its statement, the company said the closings were due to poor financial performance at those specific locations and not about the performance of the company as a whole.

The Target stores that will be closed in January of 2016 are:

  • Austin, Texas (Austin North East)
  • Odessa, Florida (Suncoast Pasco County)
  • Casa Grande, Arizona
  • Victorville, California
  • Flint, Michigan (East Flint)
  • Columbus, Ohio (Columbus Southwest)
  • Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Northridge)
  • Superior, Wisconsin
  • Springfield, Ohio
  • New Ulm, Minnesota
  • Ottumwa, Iowa
