If you feel like driving around Grand Junction is shake and rattle while you roll, you're right.

A study conducted by national transportation group TRIP found the majority of roads in and around Grand Junction are deficient and cost each motorist in Grand Junction a total of over $1,200  a year in operating costs, accidents and traffic congestion.

The TRIP study rated 76% of local and state maintained roads in the Grand Junction area either poor or mediocre which cost car owners an additional $629 per vehicle for repairs, depreciation, fuel, and tire wear.

The TRIP report, Colorado Transportation by the Numbers, found 41% of major Colorado roads are in poor condition, 43% are in mediocre or fair condition and 15% are in good condition.

The City of Grand Junction is attempting to address the condition of local roads in the Municipal Election on April 4, 2017, with Ballot Measure 2B.

The measure will give the city the ability to keep and use money from the Riverside Parkway Debt Retirement Fund for road construction, repair, and improvements without limiting the use of those funds to the Parkway.
