Gov. Polis Being Sued for Limiting Church Crowds During Pandemic

I'm not exactly shocked that a lawsuit has been filed, I just wonder what the outcome is going to be in court. We are getting word this morning from the Canon City Daily Record that the state of Colorado and specifically Governor Jared Polis were listed in a lawsuit regarding limiting the size of crowds at a religious gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andrew Wommack Ministries and his legal counsel filed the paperwork on Monday because they are unhappy with the limits our Governor has imposed, especially as they have a conference they are holding next week.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court and asks for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction against multiple public health orders that have been issued by Colorado officials.

The lawsuit specifically challenges the 175-person maximum capacity on religious gatherings during the pandemic. What is really making the religious organization mad is the fact that the ministry's Pastor's Conference scheduled to begin on October 5th is scheduled to bring in pastors and ministers from all over the country plus 600 students.

This past July the Colorado Attorney's Office sent a cease-and-desist letter to Andrew Wommack for violating the state's health orders by hosting a summer conference.

No comment has been made about this lawsuit by either Governor Polis' office or the state health department.

Like I said it will be interesting to see how long this lawsuit is drawn out and what the outcome will be. We will be sure to update you on this as this case continues to develop.
