First Nurse to Get a COVID Vaccine at Grand Junction Hospital

Meet Loree Cutts, who was the first nurse to get a COVID-19 vaccine at a hospital in Grand Junction. Loree, who has been working at St. Mary's Medical Center for nine years, received the vaccine yesterday, December 16.

St. Mary's told us that they received the coronavirus vaccine on Tuesday, December 15. Loree is a registered nurse who worked in Cardiovascular Intensive Care and now works with Careflight of the Rockies.

Loree Cutts received the vaccine yesterday with other St. Mary's employees, according to St. Mary's. She's feeling good after getting the COVID-19 vaccine, her arm is a little sore but St. Mary's told us that it's no worse than getting a flu vaccine.

St. Mary's also stated that the Pfizer vaccine and Moderna vaccine are both intramuscular injections that will be administered in the arm, similar to flu vaccines. They also told that both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are:

...administered as a 2 dose series which will be given within a 21-28 day period.

The Grand Junction hospital reminds everyone to continue to do our part to protect those around us. St. Mary's asks the community to continue to wear masks, practice social distancing, and 'other safe and healthy habits to limit the spread of COVID-19.'
