The person who tested positive for the B.1.1.7 variant (the new strain of coronavirus) is a male in his 20s, according to KKCO. He must remain in isolation in Elbert County until public health officials clear him.
According to KKCO, the man who tested positive for the COVID-19 variant has no travel history. Officials are currently contact tracing to be sure the new COVID-19 variant doesn't spread.
The new coronavirus strain isn't more deadly than other strains but is 'significantly more contagious' according to KKCO.
