A 10-year-old Irish Wolfhound that was a family pet was found beaten to death just off the family's property line.

The family that owned the dog runs a towing service in Weld County and have three dogs who would run free on their property during work hours. When he returned home he called his dogs, as he always does, but one didn't return. Looking into the late hours on Monday night, they could not find the dog.

Tuesday morning, however, they found Cody, beaten to death, his collar hanging on a pipe nearby.

The family took the dog to the Milliken Animal Clinic where an autopsy revealed the dog had trauma all along the top of his body. Investigators were unable to find any clues as to who might be responsible and the case remains open as authorities search to find out who beat this dog to death.
