Poudre Fire Authority and UC Health first responders don't just save human lives, they do dog rescues, too, warming our hearts enough to melt through an icy pond.

Early Sunday morning, a doggo went after some geese at Troutman Park, and wound up stuck in an icy pond, unable to get back out. Considering temps yesterday morning were around negative five degrees, this could've gone really badly, but PFA and UC Health were there to save the day (and take a real-life polar plunge).

PFA shared the rescue story on Facebook, with a reminder to keep pets on leashes and always call 911 if this happens to you — do NOT ever go into frozen water after a pet, let the pros do it.

Oh, and the dog was just fine, too.
