COVID-19 Brings Changes For Mesa County Sheriff’s Office

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is temporarily changing the way it does business.

To help stop the spread of COVID19 and prevent unnecessary exposure, enhanced safety measures are being implemented at the sheriff's office and the Mesa County Detention Facility.

These services have been temporarily suspended:

*Fingerprinting services
* New concealed handgun permit applications ( because of the required fingerprinting)
* Evictions
* VIN Verifications

The Civil Unit will still be available for emergency protection orders from the 21st Judicial District Court. Concealed handgun permit renewal applications can still be submitted.

There will also be changes at the Mesa County Detention Facility for the foreseeable future. The non-essential volunteer programs at the detention facility have been suspended and access to the facility is being limited to staff and essential personnel.

In-person video visitation for the general public is being suspended, but will now be used by attorneys to meet with clients instead of entering the facility. Off-site video visitation is still an option for the general public, and inmates can still be contacted by phone, mail, and email. Video visitations can be scheduled on the Mesa County Sheriff's Office website. Non-emergency crime can also be reported on their website.

The detention facility lobby will remain open 8am-4pm for those that want to come in and use the kiosk to add funds to an inmates account.

All inmates entering the facility will be screened by medical staff as part of the booking process. If an individual has symptoms or is believed to have been exposed, they will be isolated from the general population until further evaluation and possible testing for COVID-19
