Your phone number may be on Colorado's no-call list, but that doesn't mean you won't be getting a call about being vaccinated.

Everybody who has a cell phone deals with pesky  telemarketing calls and those calls that come up as "potential spam." There are worse things in the world for sure, but unquestionably, those calls are annoying. However, not every non-personal call is necessarily a bad thing.

Vaccination Calls Begin

On Monday, COVAXCO, which is the inbound COVID-19 vaccination call center for the state, began making some outbound calls and sending text messages to individuals who have not been vaccinated for COVID-19. According to 9 News, the people being called are listed in the Colorado Immunization Information System.

If you are on the no-call registry, you may wonder why you would be getting an unsolicited phone call or text message. Well, the answer is pretty simple according to the attorney general's office which says encouraging a vaccine is not the same as selling products or services. The purpose of the phone calls is to make sure people have all the information they need to make a good decision about being vaccinated.

Delta Variant In Mesa County

Some people might want to be upset about this, but there's really no reason to be. The fact is, we are seeing an increase in the more contagious Delta variant. The state health department says that almost every new COVID case in Mesa County has been the variant and Colorado has the second most Delta variant cases in the entire country.

Information Is Good

The variant is more contagious and could make people sicker. That is information people need to have and what they choose to do with it is completely up to them. I would rather have all the facts presented to me so I can make the best decision possible --even if that means receiving an unwanted phone call or text message.
