When it comes to having fun, Colorado is near the top of the list in a ranking of the most fun states in the country.

We already know Colorado is a fun place, that's at least one reason we live here - and it has absolutely nothing to do with marijuana. In fact, Colorado is such a fun state it ranks third in the nation.

The folks at Wallet Hub have been busy analyzing statistics, data, and human behavior to determine which states in the nation are the most fun. The study is based on a number of factors including the number of restaurants, amusement parks, outdoor activities, performing arts theaters, to name a few.

Here are the top 10 states for fun.

1. NEVADA
2. SOUTH DAKOTA
3. COLORADO
4.NORTH DAKOTA
5.NEW YORK
6.WYOMING
7.OREGON
8.LOUISIANA
9.MONTANA
10. HAWAII

The problem with the study?   It's based on per capita statistics, so the numbers may be a bit skewed. Consequently, you end up with five of the "most fun" states which also happen to be among the least populated states in the country. For example, there are more people in the Denver Metro area (

For example, there are more people in the Denver Metro area (2.6 million) than the entire states of North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming combined. (2.2 million - Wikipedia)

There are some fun things to do in states like South Dakota and Wyoming - I'm not so sure about North Dakota - but there is a huge difference in having fun things to do and being a fun place to live.

Obviously, even in Colorado, it's not all fun and games. Have you ever been to eastern Colorado?

Overall, Colorado is a fun place to live and it was like that way before it started to inhale.
