In January of 2018, Camille Wasinger-Konrad of Highlands Ranch gave birth at home to a daughter.

Wasinger-Konrad was renting a room in the home and, when the child was born, taped its mouth and nose shut to avoid waking others in the home, then standing on the deck of the home where she was living, tossed the baby into the neighbor's yard, where the neighbor found it that evening.

She apparently was not aware of the "Safe Haven Law" which:

Allows a parent to hand over an infant, up to 72 hours old, to an employee at any Fire Station or Hospital, with absolutely NO QUESTIONS ASKED. So long as the baby is unharmed, the parent will not be prosecuted for abandonment.

Wasinger-Konrad has been found guilty of first-degree murder as well as tampering with physical evidence.

Sentencing for her is scheduled for November 15 and carries a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
