A Colorado man could face up to 20 years in prison for allegedly urinating in his seat and refusing to wear a mask on his flight to Denver.

According to Denver7, the incident occurred on March 9, when 24-year-old Landon Perry Grier, of Cañon City, reportedly refused to wear a mask at least eight times during the Alaskan Airlines flight, even swatting at the flight attendant who had asked him to do so.

A passenger then accused Grier of urinating in his seat, stating that he was exposing himself. The antics were particularly disruptive to the crew, who were trying to make an emergency landing due to a mechanical issue.

Grier later told an FBI agent that he did not remember most of the incident, blaming his behavior on a mixture of alcohol and a pain killer he had taken before boarding the aircraft.

Authorities subsequently charged Grier with a federal count of interfering with a flight crew. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison or a $250,000 fine.

Grier first appeared in front of the U.S. District Court of Colorado on Thursday (March 11), after which Denver7 reports "he was released after the hearing on pre-trail supervision conditions."

His next trial date is unknown at this time.
