A man who was let out of prison to lighten the population during the COVID-19 pandemic has allegedly shot a Denver woman.

According to Denver 7, Cornelius Haney was released from jail about a month ago due to concerns of the Coronavirus. He is now back behind bars, accused of murdering 21-year-old Heather Perry. Police say Perry's body was discovered in an alleyway in Denver on May 9.

The shooting happened near the 1400 block of Colfax Avenue Saturday morning. Police used security camera footage to track down Haney and make the arrest.

Haney went to prison in 2014 for robbery.
