City of Grand Junction Designates Delaney Clements Day
Delaney Clements would have turned 14 on Friday, August 5 and the city of Grand Junction is honoring her by designating that day as Delaney Clements Day in Grand Junction.
Delaney passed away on March 21 of this year after a long battle with cancer. Her life and spirit were such an inspiration to those she came in contact with, and in death, her legacy and inspiration live on.
The public is invited to a dance party in her honor Friday at 7:30PM at Lincoln Park.
The proclamation, expected to be passed at Wednesday's meeting by the Grand Junction City Council, reads in part:
WHEREAS during a much too short and very productive lifetime, she has demonstrated in countless ways her dedication to the advocacy and care of others and has earned the respect, affection, and adoration of people from all walks of life. and all ages, and she has lived her life to the fullest and her unique and contagious way has been a source of strength and courage in the face of adversity to those around her during her years of childhood cancer advocacy....
We know that Delaney is missed terribly by her family and friends, but her community has not forgotten her, and it doesn't look like it will anytime soon.
