Christmas Shopping in Downtown Grand Junction in 2020
It really is the most wonderful time of the year, yeah this year is a little different but it's still nice to see decorations, lights, and the holiday spirit as you adventure on the Western Slope. This past weekend Savannah and I decided to get some real work done and do all Christmas Shopping (hopefully in one day).
While we don't have any kids we both grew up in big families so lots of nieces and nephews to shop for and as you know Christmas Shopping can be crazy anyway. We got started on Main Street trying to figure things out for our parents and it was so nice to hear our sister radio station KOOL 107.9 playing continuous Christmas Music at so many downtown stores while we were shopping.
Even though we have no kids we entered Colorado Baby three times and made two different purchases, the staff there was amazing at helping us find stuff as we (especially I) was clueless. We also got some stuff at Zephyr and again the staff was so helpful but not pushy in helping us figure out what to get as gifts. The Small Mall on Main had some great stuff too.
As we were walking downtown I did notice SANTA and Mrs. Claus walking on Main Street so I had to get a photo with them, it made my day so much better!
I will admit I did have one meltdown (like a little kid, sorry Savannah), it's because we didn't have Hobby Lobby on the places we were planning on going, and somewhat about that store makes me want to pull my hair out. Especially in December right before Christmas.
Because my wife is brilliant and knows how to deal with me being a kid, she told me if I was good she would get me peppermint bark so from then on I was on my best behavior. And yes, I did get my peppermint bark!
Which also made me happy enough to help with wrapping the presents. All in all, it was a great weekend making memories with my wife who deserves an award for putting up with me.
If you still have Christmas shopping to do, make sure you keep your money with local small businesses as much as possible.
