Losing a child in the prime of their life must be the toughest thing for a parent to endure which is why we are calling out to the community to support a benefit for the family of Jordan Jones.

Jordan "Sunshine" Jones, of Grand Junction, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of testicular cancer at age 13. Following three rounds of chemotherapy and seven surgeries, Jordan won his battle and went on to play football his next year of high school.

Unfortunately, last summer tumors were found in his lungs, liver, and abdomen - and earlier this year a tumor was removed from his brain. On June 8, Jordan passed away at age 22.

It was during Jordan's early battle that his mother Kim Jones started the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation to bring awareness to this disease and to provide support for those going through it.

While the emotional toll on this family has been immense, the financial burden of this journey is staggering totalling well over $1 million.

A benefit to help defray some of this debt is being held this Sunday, June 26 at The Ale House in Grand Junction. There will be a silent auction and 10% of all food sales will go to the Jones family.

Several local bands are donating their time for the cause including 5 Years Since, Zolopht, and the Wrong Impressions with more to be announced.

At 4:30 p.m. there will be an open mic for anyone who would like to speak or share a memory of Jordan.

Time and time again this community has rallied in support of those in need and those that are hurting, and once again we call upon the good people of our community to rise up and help this precious family in need.
