Bowling for Blue Benefits Deputy Geer Fallen Officer Fund
Spend some time having fun with your family and friends and help a worthwhile organization, the Deputy Derek Geer Fallen Officer Fund, by Bowling for Blue this Sunday (April 23).
The event hosted by the organization and Mesa County Sheriff's Office is a fundraiser for the Deputy Derek Geer Fallen Officers Fund which awards a scholarship to a student enrolled at the Western Colorado Peace Officers Academy.
The academy is a program through Western Colorado Community College/Colorado Mesa University. The program provides education and training to students wanting to pursue law enforcement careers.
Upon completion of the program, the students are qualified to take examinations to become a Certified Colorado Peace Officer.
Students can continue their education for an Associates of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice or a Bachelor of Applied Science Criminal Justice.
Bowling for Blue is Sunday (April 23) at Orchard Mesa Lanes, 295 27 Road, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and includes three games plus shoe rental.
