The bill, Senate Bill 2019-012 will make it illegal in the state of Colorado to use your handheld device while driving.

The intent is to lower or eliminate the distractions cell phone users face when using their devices while driving on Colorado's roads.

Denver attorney Scott Sullivan, a personal injury lawyer, has even set up the Denver Accident Map that shows where accidents have happened in Denver and why.

Texting while driving is already against the law and it was only a matter of time until someone decided to address the issue of using a phone at all while driving.

The law, if passed will restrict mobile phone users from using a mobile device at all while driving, unless they come to a complete stop or are dialing 911. The offense will carry a $300 fine and four points off your license for the first offense, $500 and six points for the second and $750 and eight points for the third and subsequent offenses.

Designed to make the roads safer again for all to drive undistracted, this bill would be the first of its kind anywhere in the United States.

Colorado to the front of the line yet again.
