Adorable Pups Nicknamed the ‘Fruit Bats’ – Here’s Why
Roice-Hurst Humane Society has four adorable young dogs that are collectively nicknamed the 'Fruit Bats.' Here's how and why they got the name.
The dogs, all between one and two years old, were brought to the shelter from Kansas and are are extra special because they are partially blind and deaf. So, in a way they're like fruit bats.
One of our family dogs as she aged, lost all of her hearing and sight and still adapted to finding her way around the house, food and water and even use the dog door to let herself in and out of the house.
I tell you that because dogs are so amazingly adaptable that you shouldn't let their disabilities - and I use that term very, very lightly - keep you from adopting.
Now, allow me to introduce you to the 'Fruit Bats.'
