A 5-year-old girl was abducted by her mother but has found and rescued.

The girl's mother, Christine Mascaneras, does not have custody of the child but after spending time with her grandparents in Westminster, Colorado was taken to Ohio by Mascarenas.

Although it is unclear why, Mascarenas was not allowed to take her daughter out of state, and it would appear was not even allowed visitation rights, but defied the order and picked up the girl and proceeded to travel across the country with her.

Following the abduction, the girl's father, who does in fact have custody, called the police to report the crime adding that he saw that Mascarenas may be traveling to Ohio based on posts on social media.

The mother was driving a black Cadillac and when spotted, was pulled over by Ohio State Patrol and Mascarenas was arrested without incident and booked into the Correction Center of Northwest Ohio, where she is currently waiting to be extradited to Colorado.

The vehicle with Mascarenas and her daughter was spotted on the Ohio Turnpike in Jefferson Township, which is located in Williams County around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12th.

The arresting officers were very kind to the young girl, who one would assume was likely going through some distress with the kidnapping and the arrest of her mother, but the troopers attempted to calm the little girl down and ease her fears by presenting the 5-year-old with a stuffed bear.

Luckily, the girl was not hurt during the incident and is now in child protective services.
