With the outbreak of the Coronavirus, people all across the nation are stocking up on food in case of a quarantine, and it's important to recognize and thank those that work at grocery stores in this tough time.

Today my mom and I went to one of our local grocery stores, and it was unlike anything I'd ever seen. It was around 11 am and the place was packed. And honestly, I have a little be of germaphobia anyway, so that made it even more uncomfortable.

Upon arriving, a woman handed us a cart that she'd sanitized for us, apparently, that was her duty at that time today. It was almost impossible to get around, and a lot of shelves were bare.

Once we got everything we needed, we waited in a gigantic line to check out, and it wasn't because of closed lanes, but the sheer volume of people in the store. It was then that my heart sank.

Many of the people working the checkouts were of advanced age and were visibly stressed. I couldn't help thinking to myself that these are the demographic of people that are most susceptible to the Coronavirus, and here they are working, surrounded by hoards of people who may or may not be sick.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that is working in the grocery business right now, I know it can't be easy. I couldn't imagine dealing with people that are stressed out about empty shelves and waiting on such a mass of people every day.

Please do me a favor and the next time you go grocery shopping, thank every employee that you see. And don't forget to wash your hands, and don't touch your face!
