If you have been to Lincoln Park in Grand Junction in recent weeks, no doubt you have noticed the construction going on at the site of the old tennis courts and horse shoe pits. But, what exactly are they doing, and when will they be finished?

New and improved tennis courts are going in, and the horse shoe pits are going away. The horse shoe pits have been moved to  the northeast corner Canyon View Park for those interested in tossing the iron. New parking will fill the former horse shoe area.

The new tennis courts will feature a new configuration and will include four standard courts, four pickleball courts, and for quick start courts for kids. Picklball is a sport growing in popularity. It is similar to tennis but also combines elements of badminton and table tennis.

The exact date of completion of this project is uncertain, although there are indications  it could be finished by the end of September. If you are a tennis player - or a pickleballer - you can expect to enjoy the brand new courts before the snow starts to fly in Western Colorado.
