The Western Colorado October almost seemed to good to be true with the mild temperatures. And as they say, all good things must end. But, maybe this isn't actually a bad thing. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting in downtown Grand Junction is happening next week, and it looks like it's finally going to turn cold. We can't light the Christmas tree if we aren't all bundled up in coats, hats, and gloves. It just wouldn't feel like Christmas.
Again this year, the tree lighting will take place the week before Thanksgiving, on Friday, November 16th on the corner of 4th and Main at Wells Fargo Bank.
KOOL 107.9 will be on location broadcasting live, and there will be special entertainment beginning at 5pm. Santa arrives at about 5:45 to light the tree, and we expect the Grand Junction Fire Department will be aiding in Santa's safe arrival this year.
Once Santa gets the tree lit - along with all of the lights in downtown Grand Junction -  he will sit and visit one-on-one with all of the good little boys and girls and provide treats as well.
I haven't dug out my heavy winter coat just yet. But I think this is the best excuse I've come up with so far. It certainly appears that typical November weather is on the way- just in time.
