15 Years Ago: Steve Perry Leaves Journey…Again
It was on May 7, 1998 that stadium rockers Journey earned a guaranteed episode of VH1's then ultra-popular 'Behind the Music' series when singer Steve Perry broke ranks with the band for a second time.

In addition to its always-packed tour schedule, Journey stayed pretty busy in the studio during the first decade of the new century, releasing four albums (2001's 'Arrival,' 2005's 'Generations,' 2008's 'Revelation,' and 2011's 'Eclipse') in a 10-year span. Sadly, however, it appears they might be finished recording for the foreseeable future.
It’s hard to deny that Journey singer Arnel Pineda’s rise to success is a unique and moving story. The frontman was discovered by Journey guitarist Neal Schon, who caught a video of Pineda performing with his former cover band Zoo on YouTube, and the rest is as they say, history.
It's been more than 40 years since Neal Schon left Santana to form the band that would become Journey. However, a new interview with Schon reveals that he and Carlos Santana have had preliminary talks about a potential new project.
Arnel Pinada isn't the first cover band singer who's been hired to replace the guy he sounds like -- in fact, as former Judas Priest frontman Ripper Owens would be quick to point out, his story isn't even the first to inspire a movie. However, as the first trailer for the upcoming Journey documentary takes pains to argue, Pineda's tale might be the most inspiring.
Journey will be in New Orleans Super Bowl weekend. The rock group, led by Neal Schon, will join country trio Rascal Flatts for a 'CMT Crossroads' special at 11PM ET on CMT. 'CMT Crossroads' pairs country superstars with rock or pop artists for a concert of each band's most well-known songs. This is the second time Journey and Rascal Flatts have shared a stage.
Ever wake up one morning wondering what your name was? Whether this was your beautiful house (David Byrne has, but that’s another story)? Whether you somehow missed something that was sitting right under your nose?
