Okay, sweet corn lovers, get ready for the corn as the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival Celebrates 26 years and welcomes Rodney Atkins.

Country singer Rodney Atkins will headline this year's musical line up in Olathe and will provide the climax for this year's festival on August 5. Atkins continues a long-standing tradition of top-notch talent at the festival with past performers including Wynonna, Three Dog Night, Styx, and Lonestar.

Everybody knows about the corn eating contests that happen at the Olathe Sweet Corn Festival-- after all, it is all about the corn. Even if you aren't up for stuffing your face with corn on the cob at a high rate of speed, you still get all the delicious sweet corn you can eat.

The gates on Saturday open at 10:00 a.m. and festival attendees will enjoy games and activities for all ages, including a climbing wall and a petting zoo.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids 11 and under, and no charge for kids 2 and under. Advance tickets are available at Alpine Bank locations in Montrose, Delta, and Grand Junction or online.

Wine gets a lot of attention here in western Colorado, but I'm thankful for the focus on Olathe Sweet Corn. That delicious sweet corn is something I look forward to every summer, and it's definitely worth celebrating.
