It's almost the end of April and the spring weather is still cool enough to leave some unexpected snow on the mountains north of Grand Junction.

You wouldn't be surprised if the recent wet weather added more to the snow pack on the Grand Mesa, which it did, but snow on the plateau just beyond the Bookcliffs basking in sunlight while everything else is dark and gloomy is an awesome sight.

While Grand Junction had it's share of rain today (April 27), the weather is still cool enough to continue snow showers over some of the mountains surrounding the Grand Valley.

The photos were taken early this afternoon between Grand Junction and Fruita while it was still raining in the valley.

It is sights like these that make even long-time residents like myself take a moment to view the awesome beauty that surrounds us.
