If you haven't been to Grand Junction's Museum of the West in awhile, then you are  missing a lot. One of those things is the opportunity to explore the museum for free on Thursday evenings this summer.

The museum is a great place to learn about and experience the history of Grand Junction and western Colorado in both pictures and artifacts.

Some of the highlights are the immersive exhibits where you can actually take a step back in time.

The Thrailkill Firearms collection is extensive and includes firearms used by both good and bad guys of the wild west.

The museum has one of the most extensive collections of southwestern pottery in the US.

Transportation displays feature everything from an old west stagecoach to a restored 1958 Cessna airplane.

The free nights are every Thursday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. through August 28 which is great because one visit just isn't enough for most people.

The museum is located at 462 Ute Avenue (5th and Ute) in downtown Grand Junction. The museum received a grant from Bank of the West to offer extended hours and free Thursday evening admission.
