The Beatles make a one night only appearance at the historic Avalon Theatre in Grand Junction on Tuesday, February 19 with the showing of the film 'A Hard Day's Night'.The 1964 film was the first of the Beatles' feature length films. The movie was already in the works before the Beatles made their first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show and filming started just days after the Beatles returned to the U.K. from their first trip to the U.S.

The film was nominated for two Academy Awards, (both in music categories), and also a Grammy Award. To many, it's as much a long form music video as it is a movie.  Nonetheless, it's a fun hour and a half and seeing this film on the big screen is the best way to experience the comedy and chaos of the Fab Four.

In addition to the title track, which spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard charts, the soundtrack for the film features other Beatles classics including "Can't Buy Me Love," "And I Love Her" and "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You".

IMDb Storyline Summary: The Beatles--the world's most famous rock and roll band--travel from their home town of Liverpool to London to perform in a television broadcast. Along the way they must rescue Paul's unconventional grandfather from various misadventures and drummer Ringo goes missing just before the crucial concert.

The show is part of the Avalon Theatre Dinner and a Movie night, so if you grab a meal at one of the downtown restaurants before the show, your dinner receipt will give you free admission. Otherwise, admission is $5 per person. Showtime is 7:15 p.m.
