Grand Junction commuters awoke this morning (Feb 4) to snow falling across the valley. Under the fresh snow, a layer of ice from the day before made the morning commute both slow and treacherous. Traffic along F Road, where this photo was taken, was moving along at 10-20 mph and many motorists were still sliding into and out of the intersections.The City of Grand Junction is on accident alert, so non-injury accidents can be reported to the police within the next 24 hours allowing local law enforcement the ability to deal with the more serious accidents effectively.

Forecast for western Colorado is for continued snow showers today with a brief break Wednesday (Feb 5). More snow is expected in the area Thursday and Friday.
