Colorado Mesa University will celebrate its 90th anniversary with homecoming activities scheduled all the way through the weekend.

This week's homecoming celebration will be a little more special than usual, as Colorado Mesa celebrates 90 years of higher education in Grand Junction. With more than 10,000 students enrolled, CMU has come a long way since 1925 when it was a junior college with  just 39 students.

While activities and class reunions are scheduled throughout the week, there is a special emphasis on the weekend events, including Saturday's football game as the 5-1 Mavericks go for their fifth straight win of the season.

FRIDAY

  • Victory Carnival and Bonfire Bash at the University Center Plaza. The carnival starts at 5:00 p.m., with the bonfire at 8:00 p.m. The event is free and the community is invited. Local food trucks will be on hand, plus student-run carnival games. Head Football Coach Russ Martin will give a pep talk prior to the bonfire.

SATURDAY 

  • Homecoming Parade - 11:45 a.m.  Downtown Grand Junction
  • Steak and Crab Fest -11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at Lincoln Park
    It's all you can eat for $60 and includes the beer garden. Hot dogs and soda will be available for kids 5 and under for $5. Proceeds benefit CMU Wrestling.
  • Football Game - 1:00 p.m. vs Western New Mexico
  • Men's Hockey -  4:30 p.m. vs USAFA @ Glacier Ice Arena
  • Women's Club Soccer 5:00 p.m. vs USAE @ Walker Field

SUNDAY

  • Men's Hockey - 10:00 a.m. vs USAFA @ Glacier Ice Arena
  • Men's Soccer - 1:00 p.m. vs CSU-Pueblo @ Walker Field
