Dinner and a Movie: The Bridge on the River Kwai
Tonight for Dinner and a Movie at the Avalon Theatre “The Bridge on the River Kwai” staring William Holden and Alec Guinness (he played Obi-Wan Kenobi) in Star Wars. This 1957 war movie won seven Oscars and deals with the situation of British prisoners of war during World War II who are ordered to build a bridge to accommodate the Burma-Siam railway. At first the British won’t build the bridge and bravely endures torture. Then they are persuaded that the bridge should be constructed as a symbol of British morale, spirit and dignity in adverse circumstances. Unknown to the British, the Americans have sent a mission into the jungle to blow up the bridge.
Lamborghini Unveils New 50th Anniversary Missile
2013 marks the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and chief designer Walter de Silva has marked the occasion with a daredevil single-seat concept missile. The Egoista looks like something out of a Speed-Racer cartoon or a Batman movie but it’s real. The only one of its type is powered by a 600-horsepower 5.2-liter V10 and is made from carbon fiber and aluminum body parts just like an attack helicopter. There is no word on how many of these Lamborghini will build, but the price tag will be more than any of us could pick up. The cool thing is that designs like this will find their way into the average vehicles some day.

Pierre Lacroix Steps Down After 18 Season With the Colorado Avalanche
For the past 18 seasons Pierre Lacroix has been in the front office of the Colorado Avalanche. In that time He made deals to bring Patrick Roy, Rob Blake and Ray Bourque to the Avalanche and two Stanley Cup titles, not a bad run. On Friday Lacroix stepped down as president of the team and will hand the keys to a couple of familiar faces, but he will stay on as an advisor.

Sunday night at a Russian bar, you knew it had to be in Russia, 28-year-old Alexey Ponamarev let the bartender pour a flaming shot into his mouth. The bartender claims to have done this trick dozens of time with no injuries. Well, this time didn’t go as planed and Ponamarev had to be rushed to the hospital for burns to his face.
