The Associated Press has released its weekly poll of top high school football teams for Colorado. Although most of the classes with just minor (or no) changes in their respective polls, there is one class that has quite the shakeup this week.

Class 5A showed the most changes in its top 5 teams. Last week’s No. 1 team, Valor Christian, dropped to the No. 4 position, and last week’s No. 3 team, Pomona, had the biggest change by dropping to No. 7. Grandview is this week’s new No. 1 team in Class 5A, followed by Ralston Valley and Fairview. All three teams are currently 8-0 on the season, and the only undefeated teams in Class 5A.

In Class 4A, Pine Creek, Fort Collins and Montrose remain the top three teams. Pueblo South rose up to No. 4, and Denver South remains at No. 5. Last week’s No. 4 team, Greeley West, dropped to No. 7.

In Class 3A, Lutheran, Discovery Canyon and Evergreen remain the top three teams, while Roosevelt and Rifle rose to No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Palisade rose to No. 7 this week, and last week’s No. 4 team – Delta – dropped to No. 9. Eagle Valley and Glenwood Springs both received votes this week, but neither team made it into the top 10.

In Class 2A, the top six teams remain the same this week – Brush, Kent Denver, Strasburg, Lamar, Gunnison and Platte Valley. Cortez rose a spot to No. 7.

In Class 1A, the top three teams – Paonia, Buena Vista, and Resurrection Christian – remain the same this week. Meeker and Platte Canyon both rose a spot to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively. Last week’s No. 4 team, Limon, dropped to No. 8. Cedaredge received votes this week, but did not make it the top ten.

In Class 8-Man, the top four teams – Dayspring Christian, Norwood, Springfield and Caliche – all remain the same, while Vail Christian comes in at No. 5.

And the top four teams in Class 6-Man also remain the same – Arickaree Woodlin, Eads, Peetz and Fleming. Hanover comes in at No. 5.
