If you grew up in the rock & roll era, you probably sang along with and maybe even tried to mimic the distinctive style of the singer of the classic, "Wild Thing" made famous by the British garage-rock group The Troggs. We're sad to report the lead singer of the band, Reg Presley, has died after a battle with lung cancer.

In a story reported in World Network News, Reg Presley's daughter Karen said the singer passed away peacefully at home. He was 71. The story also reported Presley had recently suffered a series of strokes.

In January 2012, Presley announced both his retirement from the band and his diagnosis with cancer.

The Troggs formed in Andover, England  in 1964 and are best known for "Wild Thing," which spent two weeks at the top of the Billboard chart in 1966.  Their hit "Love Is All Around" peaked at #7 in 1968.

We pay tribute to Reg Presley with this classic Troggs "Wild Thing" video
