The following post and video contains major SPOILERS for Episode 6 of Watchmen.

The latest episode of Watchmen might have been the most important yet. In extensive flashbacks, Angela learns about her grandfather Will Reeves’ past — as the first ever masked hero in the Watchmen universe, Hooded Justice. These sequences recontextualize not only everything we’ve seen before in the Watchmen TV series, but everything we think we know about the Watchmen comics as well.

In his latest video, ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey breaks down exactly what Will Reeves’ secret identity means to the mythos of Watchmen, how his backstory mirrors Superman’s, and predicts where this excellent show may go for the remainder of its first season on HBO. Plus, there’s even more about Will Reeves’ costume, character, and the connections between his Hooded Justice alter ego and his favorite childhood serial, about masked lawman Bass Reeves.
