Tomorrow (April 24) is Administrative Professionals Day. Who would you say is Grand Junction's best?

Administrative Professional, Executive Administrator, Secretary.... take your pick. You know that person who sits outside the office, typically getting more work done than the person inside the office? Yeah, that person. Wednesday, April 24, 2019, is their day.

Since the day I started Kindergarten I was always told secretaries and receptionists were the most important people in a business. Those are the individuals who make first contact with potential clients and customers. They make the first impression.

According to Holiday Insights:

National Professional Secretaries Week and National Secretary's Day was created  in 1952 through the work of Harry F. Klemfuss of Young and Rubicam. Klemfuss recognized the importance and value of the secretarial position, to a company or business and to management. His goal  in creating this day, was to encourage more women to become secretaries. (Nowadays, that would be both women and men). Using his skill and experience in public relations, Klemfuss, promoted the values and importance of the job that secretaries do. In doing so, he also created the holiday in recognition of the importance of secretaries.

Here at the studio our receptionist is a young woman named Spring. She knows more about what's going on around here than anybody. Do you remember Jennifer Marlow (aka Loni Anderson) from WKRP in Cincinnati? Spring is just like Jennifer.

So, how do you show your appreciation to your workplace's secretary? Here are a few suggestions from Holiday Insights:

  • Flowers
  • Cards, often with restaurant or shopping gift certificates
  • Take them to lunch
  • Candies
  • Assorted Gift Baskets
