The world is a-buzz today with Apple's introduction of  the new I-phone. They tell us it's thinner, lighter, bigger and faster. (Wait a minute--how can it be THINNER and LIGHTER, yet BIGGER?)

It comes with headphones that might actually fit your ears- and it fits in your hand.  Such talk is likely to raise the temperature of the  average gadget-geek, who wants desperately  to be one of the first to own the very latest technology. I saw a friend of mine on Facebook already trying to hock his iPhone  4 for $100- or to the highest bidder.

I have to say that I do not share in the iPhone excitement. I was very late coming to the smart phone party. In fact, it's been less than a month that I have been able to say I OWN a smart phone.

I put it off for as long as I could. No, it's not an  iPhone. It's a Droid. And I don't even know everything it can do. It's probably somewhere between half of what the iPhone does and twice as much as what I NEED it to do. I  figure by the time Apple gets to the iPhone 10, I will have figured out all of the inner workings of my  Droid and I will be ready to upgrade to the  iPhone 5.

Maybe I will find one for sale at the World's Greatest Yard Sale in a couple of years.
