The territory south of the Mason-Dixon Line has always been musically fertile.

The R.E.M. singer says he's currently "writing the final lyrics" for his long-delayed debut solo album.

After close to 20 years with the band, the drummer decided it was time for a new phase of life.

Nearly four decades after it was released, the singer reveals some of the song's garbled words.

The 1991 club show was a hard gig to get into.

All four members of the band appeared onstage at a hometown show.

"This is an epic moment for us," Michael Stipe says.

Rockers joined forces for a spirited rendition of "The One I Love."

The drummer says he didn't regret it at the time in 1997, but it's been a long time since then.
