It is truly amazing what happens when a community works together.

Through the generous donations of many individuals and partners throughout the community, Townsquare Media and the D51 Foundation were able to present a check for $2,710 to area high schools to be used to purchase needed supplies for the current school year. The check presentation took place at R-5 High School.

Recently, the Grand Junction Rotary's annual effort provided school supplies valued at more than $16,000 to all of the elementary and middle schools in District 51 as well as Charter Schools and Parochial Schools. Additionally, Stuff the Bus received some school supply donations that were distributed to elementary and middle schools.

When we started the campaign, we didn't know exactly what this school year would look like, but we all knew there was going to be a great need for supplies just like any other school year. So, while this year's efforts may have looked a little different, everybody came together for the good of District 51 Students.

For over 20 years the Townsquare Media family of radio stations including 99.9 KEKB, Mix 104.3, 95 Rock, and Kool 107.9 have been doing a Stuff the Bus campaign to generate cash and school supply donations for our local schools and students. Community involvement is the cornerstone of our mission here in the Grand Valley.

Again this year, we had some great partners that jumped on board with Stuff the Bus because they wanted to make a positive impact on the community during a troubled time. We definitely want to thank all of our generous partners for getting involved including Community Hospital, Sooper Credit Union, Mesa Mall, Student Transportation of America, and the D51 Foundation.

We also want to thank each individual who made any sort of contribution to one of the community school supply drives this year. This sort of thing can not happen without people in the community who care about things that are going on outside of their own world. In what has been an incredibly difficult year in so many ways, we can all feel really positive about the good things that have been accomplished for this year's students.
