Small Town Western Colorado Girl Hits the American Idol Stage

Jeneve Mitchell is bringing attention to our side of the State as she heads to Las Angeles for the next level of American Idol.

According to KKCO, you will most likely see her with a stringed instrument although it is still unknown which one she brought with her. She has been singing for 13 years and can play just about any stringed instrument.

Her family's house is located on Saddle Mountain in the Elk Wilderness northwest of Gunnison. The only way for her to watch American Idol is to fire up the generator.

Living in a small town, an opportunity like this doesn't arise often; this was her first audition for anything. She has many more exciting firsts coming her way if she makes it to the big stage.

15-year-old Mitchell left on Sunday with her dad for the next rounds of American Idol,  which will air Jan 27 and 28. This is the last season of American Idol.
