David Beattie used to be a commercial pilot and still loves to fly. David doesn't fly humans around anymore, just adorable dogs. He's been a volunteer pilot for Pilots N Paws Rescue for the last four and a half years, according to KOAA.

David uses his own plane to fly rescued dogs from all across the United Statesto Colorado twice a month. He says that he's always liked dogs after finding out about this, he thought that it would be a fun thing to do.

He recently set the record for the most passengers on his plane -- which was 26 dogs that he flew from Oklahoma to Colorado. David says a lot of his passengers were puppies and there were completely maxed out on space.

David uses his own plane and money to help rescue dogs and it isn't cheap. It usuallly costs at least $1,000 per trip in fuel, according to KOAA. David says that he's been trying to focus on the senior dogs because he feels sorry for them:

They've served their families well, they've been wonderful dogs and they get old and need attention - medical attention - and they just throw them away.

We're so happy that people like David Beattie exist. We meet a lot of animals during the Mix 104.3 Pet of the Week and a lot of the dogs are seniors. Shout out to David for taking care of all of the dogs, especially the senior ones, all around the United States.
