I'm just like most of you I want to see the coronavirus go away and have no more positive tests for COVID-19 but it doesn't seem like that is happening at least not happening yet. Just yesterday in a press conference our Governor Jared Polis said that "Coloradans are very alarmed" as the state of Colorado has seen an increase with a positivity rate above 5% for coronavirus, and more than 1,000 cases being registered in one 24-hour period.

On September 4th in the state of Colorado, there were 132 confirmed COVID hospitalizations, on October 12th there were 288, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Governor Polis went on to talk about how these numbers have to go down or else we will start seeing hospitals hit capacity on the number of patients they can handle. Plus the last thing we want is to have to shut down any businesses and hurt our economy any more than this year already has.

Many health officials are saying that the recent spike in COVID cases isn't from any one particular source. Lots of this is happening because people have pandemic fatigue. They are tired of social distancing and want to be around people which is what is putting more people at risk.

With the upcoming holidays and colder weather forcing people to gather indoors, health officials continue to stress the importance of social distancing and wearing a mask whenever possible. They don't want to see a domino effect with numbers continuing to increase in the coming months.
